What is Virgin Hair

Hair extensions concepts and terms often-times confuse. If you are interested in getting a weave, wig, or an extension to your hair you may get caught up in these confusing terms. Virgin hair for instance, is frequently confused with human hair. These two seem to intertwine but there are a lot of disparities between the two.

Human hair as the name implies refers to hair that is acquired from an individual’s head. It lasts longer and can be subjected to dying, styling, straightening, or washing just like the normal hair. Its immediate cousin the synthetic extensions cannot be subjected to similar processes and are much cheaper. The real hair available in the market today varies in quality and therefore what you pay is what you get.

Virgin hair is regarded as the best quality extensions in the market. Malaysia is one of the major suppliers of this type of hair extensions. It is the ideal hair extensions since it has never been subjected to any chemical alterations. It has never been chemically styled, colored or subjected to any changes. Its cuticle is untouched. The cuticle is basically what normally makes our hair lustrous. Cheap natural hairs lack this and are normally replaced with a layer of silicon.

Most people find it hard to distinguish genuine virgin hair from the fake ones. The ingenuine or processed natural wigs never last for long. The silicon used usually washes off after the hair is washed for a few times thus exposing the hair to tangling, wear and tear. The genuine hair will last longer since their cuticle is well kept. However, wigs and extensions made from virgin hair are highly priced since the wigmakers apply a lot of effort and skill when designing these extensions. Furthermore, they last longer.

You should be cautious when buying natural extensions and wigs. Most of them are made from hair that has been poorly harvested and sold. Most of them are subjected to chemical relaxers and acids which removes the cuticle. In the absence of the cuticle, the wigmakers usually place the hair carelessly without considering the cuticles of each strand. This explains why such extensions tangle and mat easily. With virgin hair, you are guaranteed of well-aligned strands since the wigmaker has to ensure that the cuticles of each strand face the same direction. With this type of extensions quality for your money is what you get. What else can one ask for?

What Is Virgin Hair?

The word ‘virgin’ refers to something that is pure and untouched. When added to the word ‘hair’ it simply refers to hair that has not been permed, colored treated, dyed, bleached, blow-dried, steam-treated or gone through any other chemical processing.

It’s from one single donor so each bundle you buy should from the same donors(the donor could be Indian, Malaysian, Brazilian, etc). This has not been exposed to any kinds of harsh agents and the cuticles all still have to be intact and running the same direction.

In simpler words, virgin human hair is the best hair extensions. If the above points are not satisfied, it is not a virgin hair.

When you buy hair extension, you may often hear another word “Remy hair.” Now let’s look at the difference.

WHAT IS REMY HAIR?

Remy Hair does not always mean virgin hair, in fact, it rarely means that.

Removed the scales, can not guarantee unprocessed, cheaper than virgin hair. The order of the head and tail of the hair is the same, and the hand feels smooth, but it will still knot when used for a long time.

What Is Non-Remy Hair?

Non-Remy hair is very popular and is readily available as well. But this hair has several disadvantages:

  1. This hair has both the roots and the tips mixed up so that all the hairs are not running in the same direction.
  2. This type of hair undergoes the shaving off of the cuticles or sometimes the ends of the hair.
  3. Non-Remy hair has undergone chemical processing.

The price is relatively cheap, and the Non-Remy Hair finished product is easier to tangle.

What Is The Difference Between Remy Hair And Virgin Hair Extensions?

Virgin hair and Remy hair both are 100% natural human hair. The difference is that the donor of Remy hair used to dye, perm or bleach his or her hair while the donor of virgin hair doesn’t use any chemical products. And Remy hair needs to be rearranged but virgin hair always comes as it is.

Virgin hair is more precious and expensive, and it’s the best product among all the hair extensions. But both of the virgin and Remy hairs are smooth, healthy with perfect shape and quality.

Why Virgin Hair Is So Popular?

  1. 1.Virgin hair is cut in its natural state. Each bundle is different in texture and wave pattern. This means there is something for everyone.
  2. 2.All the cuticles in the Virgin hair are intact and running in the same direction. You are therefore guaranteed to have the right cuticle alignment.
  3. 3.It’s premium grade, so give a very beautiful, shinny appearance.  Virgin hair is going to be some of the most expensive hair that you can buy but it lasts longer than any other types of hair extension if it’s properly taken care of.
  4. 4.Virgin hair is harvested from real human hair from a donor. Its harvesting process is meticulous adding to its premium value.

What’s great about raw hair is that hair weave bundles look identical to one another which makes for an effortless sew-in weave or wig.

WHAT IS VIRGIN HAIR?
Virgin Hair is hair that is in its natural state. No chemical changes, no color, has not been processed, and all cuticles* are intact.

WHAT IS REMY HAIR?
Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair. The term “Remy” means all the hair cuticles are healthy, intact, and flow in the same direction from the root to the tip. The cuticle is the outer layer of the hair strand and the structure is similar to the overlapping of shingles on a rooftop. Remy hair is typically collected directly from a woman’s head, and as it is cut it is held in a ponytail to ensure no hair strands fall to the floor. Remy hair will also last longer than non-Remy hair. Therefore, it can be reused, flat ironed, and colored.

HOW TO MEASURE THE LENGTH OF YOUR HAIR?
Each texture must be measured differently. The hair extensions should be measured to the fall of the hair. Start 0 at the weft and measure to the ends of the bundle. The Wavy and Curly hair extensions must be measured by pulling the hair straight. Again, start 0 at the weft; pull the hair straight from the ends, and the length will be at the tips of the hair. Each bundle will not measure exact when it is still wrapped in its band, as tension can affect the fall of each strand.

CAN THE HAIR BE STRAIGHTENED OR CURLED?
Your new Hairutopia virgin hair extensions can be treated as if it is your own hair. You are able to use a thermal (hot) tool to straighten, curl, crimp, etc. Keep in mind the hair does not have all the nutrients that a strand growing from your scalp will. Heat damage can cause breakage and dryness. Therefore, it is imperative that you use a heat-protecting product, always co-wash your hair, and protect it during sleep hours.

CAN I COLOR MY NEW HAIR?
Any chemical processes should be done by a professional or at least consulted by one. This purchase is an investment for you and chemically altering the hair can possibly damage it. Though our virgin hair extensions can handle a coloring process very well, please be cautious. Once the hair is chemically altered incorrectly, the cuticle can become damaged and overexposed causing fraying, breakage, dryness, and tangling. This in turn will affect the overall look and feel of your hair. Chemical damage has no reverse button.

SHEDDING?
Minimally, no hair is absolutely perfect (Any company who states this phrase, as a sales pitch is not being honest. Our company is an honest supplier). We have reinforced machine wefting, to minimize shedding to nearly none. You may see a few strands here or there, but nothing troubling. The most effective way to avoid shedding is by sealing the wefts.

WHAT DOES CO-WASH MEAN?
Co-washing simply means conditioner washing. It is a key task in extending the life of your extensions and keeping them healthy. We recommend a co-wash once a week with a moisturizing conditioner to ensure your hair gets the nutrients and moisture it needs. When you first receive your extensions it is important to co-wash the hair as it has , manufacturers’ hands, packaging, etc. Shampooing the hair can strip the hair entirely too much. Always use WARM water, as hot water will overexpose the cuticle of the hair.

HOW MANY BUNDLES SHOULD I ORDER?
The key to determining how many bundles to purchase depends on the lengths you are wanting. The longer bundles have a shorter weft/track as the shorter bundles have longer wefts/tracks.

The amount of hair you will need will depend on how full you would like your hair and the length you desire. Here is a general rule we use:

12″ – 14″  2 Bundles

16″ – 22″  3 Bundles

24″ – 30″  4-5 Bundles
